On April 26, 2023 the College first became aware of two criminal charges against Mr. Anand, one each of sexual assault and sexual interference. The charges were alleged to have occurred at Mr. Anand’s Brampton clinic. Mr. Anand was arrested and released on bail with conditions.
The Court ordered that Mr. Anand be prohibited from having any contact or communication with anyone under the age of 16-years-old at his clinic (place of employment) or employment context unless through a parent, adult, or guardian for the purpose of terminating the doctor-patient relationship.
In December 2024, Sunil Anand was found guilty of both counts of sexual assault and sexual interference. He has been released on bail pending appeal. The same conditions remain in place.
